Our first KitchenAid victim: the sugar cookie✨
My sister and I chose to bake something that very same day we got the mixer, and the most easiest but still delicious choice was the sugar cookie.
We got the recipe from a book called “The Great Cookie Book” by Nordic Ware (it came with a cookie tools set we bought a while ago).
We started by preheating the oven at 350 degrees.
Started with putting in 3/4 cups of shortening.
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) softened butter and 1 cup of sugar
Two eggs, don’t mind my arm. My sister and I like to post on both of our Snapchat while we’re baking, so that’s why my arm is mid-center (she records with both phones at the same time LOL our Snapchat stories are always entertaining).
And the best part (in my opinion) add 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. If you’re still reading this far: why is there imitation vanilla? Pure vanilla extract is by far the best (along with vanilla Bean), why would someone want to miss out on that? 🤷🏻♀️
Beat all of this together at medium speed.
Then in a serperate bowl, blend 2 1/2 cups of sifted flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt.
Add dry ingredients to the wet ingredients.
AND FINALLY THE PART WE HAVE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR: MIX EVERYTHING TOGETHER. At medium speed.
Then:
After this, roll the dough out into 1/8 inch and use cookie cutters.
Put sprinkles before baking.
Bake for 10 minutes or until slightly brown and transfer them to a wire rack to cool.
Then you will end up with beautiful deliciousness.
Stand mixers are so fun to use! I love my Kmix, but a kitchen Aid is next on the list. If you’re interested, I have cake decoration tutorials on my blog. I see you have a knack for bright colours!
